Palettes

There are two families of palettes.

Palettes that are flat, thin and light, which are kept in the artist's hand and often found with a hole to place one's fingers.  These palettes are intended for thicker paints that do not run.

Other improved palettes usually have compartments or cups for fluid and liquid paints and are placed on flat and stable surfaces.
